Blended ICAP/ ALP for Gifted High School Students in Xello
For high school gifted and talented students in PSD, their annual GT Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is blended in Xello with their Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) to keep them from doing repeat work and to allow them to really focus their Future Ready goal setting. This blended ICAP/ALP allows the student's gifted coordinator, counselor, parents, and teachers to easily access their goals and to help support them in their self-exploration and future plans.
Gifted & Talented Students:
Your ICAP/ALP consists of three annual goals that, if written with thought, offer you a chance to really look ahead of you AND to look within. Dream big. What pathway(s) and classes and PSD opportunities interest you and can help you reach the career and/or college goals you have in mind? Also, take the time to focus on the small stuff. Take care of your social and emotional self, so you have the inner strength to reach these goals.
Poudre School District ICAP/ALP goals include:
- Affective (Social and Emotional) Goal
- Short-Term Achievement Goal--a goal for youself just for this school year
- Long-Term Achievement Goal--a Future Ready goal written around what you see yourself doing after high school
Gifted & Talented Staff and Families:
Xello offers full ICAP/ALP goal transparency to parents and teachers of gifted high school students. If you would like to see what Future Ready goals your gifted student set for the school year, log into Xello through the family portal and look at your student's Assignments and Surveys. You will find a Survey or an Assignment titled “Blended ICAP/ALP” plus the current school year. Click into this year’s Survey or Assignment (it varies by school), and the ICAP/ALP three goals should be clearly listed. Read through their goals. Talk to them about their goals. Ask questions and support them. Reach out to your high school’s gifted site coordinator if you have any questions about your child’s goals.
