Concurrent Enrollment

This is the most convenient way for students to earn college credits at Front Range Community College. Opportunities vary with each high school. To find out what courses are offered, please look at your school curriculum guide or talk with a counselor at the school.

Register for the high school course as usual and then, to earn college credit, make sure you complete the FRCC registration process during the first week of the course.

Once students have taken a Front Range (FRCC) course at their home high school through high school select, they may be eligible to enroll in classes at Aims or FRCC on the college campus or online. PSD pays for students' tuition books and fees (not supplies).

Students can start working towards an associate degree or certification from Front Range Community College (FRCC) while in high school. Poudre School District covers the cost of tuition, books, and fees. Most students will need to particpate in the ASCENT program to complete the degree.

By earning transferable college credits while still in high school, students save both time and money and ease the transition to college. Through concurrent enrollment, students are exposed to the rigors of college at an earlier age, better preparing them for postsecondary success. 

Additionally, students who participate in concurrent enrollment and earn 9+ college credits are eligible to apply for the tuition-free 5th year ASCENT program.

Poudre School District partners with Front Range Community College (FRCC) and Aims Community College.

Concurrent Enrollment is open to PSD students beginning in the ninth grade. In order to participate, students must apply to and be accepted to the college for admission. Poudre School District partners with both Front Range Community College (FRCC) and Aims Community College.

Students are required to have a completed Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) in Xello and completed paperwork by the district deadline.

The Colorado Department of Higher Education reports that, on average, participation in Concurrent Enrollment while in high school is associated with:

• an increased likelihood of enrolling in college immediately after high school

• a decrease in the likelihood of needing remedial education in the first year of college

• higher credit hour accumulation, higher grade point average, and retention in the first year of college
